New Release of LOT

Lightcast has released a new and improved version of our proprietary Lightcast Occupation Taxonomy (LOT). Here’s what we’ve changed:

Added 253 specialized occupations and have refined 26 specialized occupations
Added 74 occupations and have refined 49 occupations
Improved coding and have moved to appropriate naming of occupations across geographies

Search by twenty new software developer and architecture roles, such as Full Stack Developer, Blockchain Developer, or Integration Architect

Job Posting Feed Improvements

As a result of our enhanced deduplication method and sharper skill scraping, we’re excited to highlight the following improvements:

Job postings data tracks 35% closer to JOLTS (a government benchmark for job posting data).
“Spammy” or false job postings are filtered out, resulting in a roughly 20% decrease in overall job postings volume.
* Even with this decrease, job postings trends are largely consistent.
* A large percentage of these “spammy” postings come from Truck Driving jobs.
Location accuracy is now over 95%.
Extraction of 20% more skills on average from job postings.

Unemployment by Month

Unemployment data is now available by month at the 2-digit SOC level. This data can be found in the custom column options for the Rank & Filter Occupations report.

Total Diversity

Total Diversity and Total Diversity % of Region are now available to view in the Rank and Filter and Map Occupations reports.

Daily Postings in the Job Postings Table

Users can now view daily job posting trends in the Job Postings Table. When selecting columns, there is a new “Daily Postings” category that includes the most recent day, 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, and 365 days of postings—along with their corresponding % change. This allows users to see exactly which occupations, job titles, companies, etc. are growing or declining in today’s economic climate.

Daily Postings Trend in Job Posting Analytics

In the Job Posting Analytics report, you can now toggle to view the last 30 days of job posting activity that Emsi has available. This will always show the most recent 30 days available, regardless of your timeframe settings. Further, we show the 30 day trend in comparison to the same 30 days from the previous year to help identify seasonal trends.
